Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife team Cory and Victoria, CWS Construction is a locally owned building company based in Ashburton.
Cory grew up in Oamaru before moving to Ashburton in 2012 to begin his building apprenticeship, while Victoria was raised on a farm in Mt Somers, NZ. Their rural backgrounds shaped the values that continue to guide CWS Construction today — hard work, honesty, reliability, teamwork and doing the job right.
In 2020, Cory and Victoria designed and built their own home on a lifestyle property just outside Ashburton. Experiencing the building process firsthand gave them a genuine understanding of the decisions, challenges and excitement that come with creating a home from the ground up.
They know what it’s like to be on the other side of the building process — because they’ve been there themselves.
Today, CWS Construction is a close-knit local team focused on delivering quality custom homes across Ashburton, Methven and Mid Canterbury and making the building experience professional, friendly and well-managed from start to finish.

Throughout the build, we work closely with you to manage your budget and keep you informed of any approved variations. This helps minimise unexpected costs and gives you greater confidence throughout your new home build.
We understand how important your completion date is when building a new home. We carefully plan each stage of construction, coordinate our trades and monitor progress throughout the project to keep your build moving efficiently.
While some circumstances, such as severe weather, material delays or client-requested changes, may affect the construction schedule, we’ll communicate any potential delays with you as soon as possible and work to minimise their impact on your project.
Yes. Our team includes Licensed Building Practitioners, and CWS Construction is a member of New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB). We also maintain the appropriate insurance required for residential building work, providing you with confidence that your new home is being built by experienced and qualified professionals.
Yes. We encourage our clients to stay involved throughout the building process. At the beginning of your project, we’ll arrange weekly site visits with you, which can continue throughout construction until handover.
For everyone’s safety, site visits must be arranged with your Project Manager or Site Foreman. This allows us to provide appropriate supervision and ensure all visits comply with our health and safety requirements.
Our relationship with you doesn’t end at handover. Once you move into your new home, CWS Construction remains available to help with any items covered under your applicable warranty and to answer questions you may have about your new home.
We take pride in providing ongoing support and want you to feel confident and comfortable in your new home long after construction is complete.
